Rick Sears

Senior HR Consultant

As Senior Consultant with Arris Partners, Rick is adept at assessing the talent and overall organizational effectiveness within our clients’ business models.  As a former Senior VP of Human Resources of a nationally recognized automotive supplier for over a decade, Rick has spent most of his career in recruiting and developing senior level managers, assessing and insuring operational interaction effectiveness throughout the organization, and reviewing and implementing ‘best in class’ human resources practices and programs.  By his own direct experiences, he clearly understands keys to organizational effectiveness. Rick used these principles of evaluation as a Partner of a leading private equity firm where his role was to assess organizational strength and senior level effectiveness for their own potential acquisitions….precisely what he does now for our clients and their organizations.

A graduate engineer from Purdue University, Rick spent the first half of his career in engineering, operations management, and human resources with General Motors, Mobil Oil and Masland Industries.  The second half of his career has been mostly as a successful entrepreneur and consultant being the CEO/founder of a nationally recognized executive search firm, starting a clinical trial organization (CRO) specializing in cardiology, urology, and dermatology drug trials, and being the founder/managing partner of two successful golf operations. While running his own operations he responds to requests from former associates to assist as an informal consultant in organizational assessment and to identify top talent for their companies in both the profit and non-profit arena.  His diversified experience as a senior business leader in industry, coupled with his own operational ownership in multiple industries, gives Rick in-depth perspectives and experiences to analyze the effectiveness of our clients’ organizations and the steps that can be taken towards continual improvement.

A community steward at heart, he has served as CEO of the area’s largest non-profit serving over 2000 disadvantaged children annually and has served on the board of the United Way, Brigade Boys and Girls Club, Hospice, and is Chair emeritus of the Cameron Business school of University of North Carolina Wilmington.
