NC Governor opens Brewgaloo, Downtown Raleigh

Arris Partners is proud to be part of a community that consistently tops national lists for quality of life and employment prospects.  The Greater Raleigh / Triangle region is home to world-class universities, state government, and the life sciences and technology hub of Research Triangle Park.  One key attraction to the region is a vibrant local business community, including thousands of locally owned, independent businesses (such as Arris Partners).

A key resource for these  businesses is Shop Local Raleigh – the local non-profit Independent Business Alliance.  Kevin Coggins and Mark Weldon from our Arris team have been involved for many years in the two annual signature events produced by Shop Local Raleigh: the annual Raleigh Christmas Parade (a 70+ year tradition), and Brewgaloo (6 years and counting).   This year, it was Mark’s honor and pleasure to introduce North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper to the main stage, to officially open Brewgaloo 2017.

Brewgaloo, held the 4th Saturday every April, is a celebration of the North Carolina Craft Brewing industry – an industry that now contributes billions of dollars annually to the North Carolina economy.  It all began in 2011, when Mark successfully pitched this festival idea to his fellow Shop Local Raleigh Board members, led the 2012 launch, and ultimately coined the Brewgaloo name.

Mark and the Brewgaloo team hoped for 1,500 people at City Plaza the first year, and ended up scrambling to accommodate over 4,000!  Six years later, Brewgaloo now completely shuts down Fayetteville Street in the heart of Downtown Raleigh, and welcomes 30,000+ people from around the world, and 100+ craft breweries from across the state (not to mention 50+ food trucks, live music, vendors, and a family-friendly atmosphere).  The festival itself now contributes over a million dollars to the local economy.
